Corks For Good: Promoting Sustainability Through Cork Recycling with ReCORK

Scream Agency is proud to announce that we are now one of the 3,000 ReCORK recycling partners. As part of our Scream Serves program, our ReCORK recycling station is now standing tall in our front window helping us fulfill a new mission: to end the rumors of cork going extinct.

Our client, ReCORK, has inspired us to educate the Denver community about the importance of recycling cork.

Harvesting cork oak trees actually produces more cork and extends the life span of the tree, therefore, the more cork is in demand, the better (and, all the more reason to drink wine). We encourage wine drinkers to buy bottles with natural cork and then bring the corks to a drop-off location (such as ours, located at 1501 Wazee St. in LoDo – Suite 1B) to keep the cycle going.

ReCORK has collected over 75 million corks and we hope to add many more to their collection. With about 20 billion bottles of wine being produced worldwide each year, we know there are plenty of corks out there waiting to be recycled. If simply recycling doesn’t quite fulfill your earthly duties, know that by buying bottles with natural cork, you are also supporting sustainable cork harvesting and creating a brighter future for the industry!

To continue our efforts of promoting the greatness of cork recycling and sustainability, we are excited to team up with ReCORK and their partner SOLE at the Summer Outdoor Retailer Market later this month to present Steps Towards Sustainability on July 26. This collaborative event will feature lightening talks from ReCORK, our fellow #BCorp community including United by Blue and Cotopaxi, and OIA’s Sustainability Working Group and 1% For the Planet members who are making the world a better place, one environmentally responsible choice at a time. If you’re attending #ORSM17 be sure to join us on Day One at SOLE’s booth (34175).

Get sipping! (And recycling!)
