DENVER (January 31, 2017) — Scream Agency, a full-service advertising, public relations and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) storytelling shop located in Downtown Denver, is celebrating 20 years in business.

As Lora Ledermann, founder and creative director at Scream Agency, reflected on the work of the past two decades, she made a decision to incorporate something that she has always been passionate about into the agency’s core values – being good. With that, the agency announces a new tagline.

Scream Agency. Be seen. Be heard. Be good.

Recently certified in the CSR profession through a program at the University of Colorado, Scream Agency will focus on creating real change while encouraging and empowering businesses to take the steps toward being better for the world. Walking the walk, Scream Agency is launching their official “Scream Serves” program where employees are paid 20 hours per year to serve in the community.

“We’re still the same creative, ad, PR and digital agency you’ve grown to trust and love. But now, you’ll see even more love and purpose in what we do,” explained Lora Ledermann. “We believe that business can and should be a force for good by finding CSR in the heart of what they do. The more brands we have authentically sharing their story about the change they are making, the more the ‘be good’ influence will spread.”

Scream Agency is a proud member of local organization B:Civic and is in the process of getting certified by B Corporations.

Erin_Rolston

We’re excited to introduce you all to Erin Rolston, Art Director, and the newest member of Scream Agency. Erin hails from the Outdoor Lifestyle and Social Change industries, with brands ranging from apparel, destination, tech, food & beverage, and non-profit, working to raise awareness of brands and their missions through design.

She previously worked at Backbone Media in Carbondale, Colo., bringing a holistic view to marketing and design to our team. And, of course, a love of the outdoors.

Personally, I can tell you how much I have enjoyed getting to know Erin over the past month or so. How much I like her style (when it comes to design and wardrobe choices). That she is smart and passionate and how we’re thrilled to welcome her.

But let’s get to know her a bit outside of agency life…

Who would your intimate dinner party guests be?

Pharell Williams, Patty Griffin, Natalie Maines, Paul Rudd, Kristen Wiig and Kate McKinnon. It would be a weird group but a hilarious sing-a-long.

Tell me three things I don’t know about you.

I was once on an MTV True Life episode. I had an abstract painting hanging in the Senate building. I wanted to be a Radio City Rockette when I was growing up.

What’s the biggest decision you’ve had to make in the past year? Why was it so big?

Moving to Denver. It would have been easier to stay in Carbondale, but I decided to move to create new opportunities and meet new people.

Would you rather fight 1 horse-sized duck, or 100 duck-sized horses?

Hmm, probably 1 horse-sized duck.

Today, March 8th, 2016, we celebrate International Women’s Day. A day set aside to highlight and celebrate the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. Though it’s great to see social feeds and trending topics featuring the accomplishments of women on this one day, I personally don’t think it’s enough.

We are obsessed with placing special significance on select days on the calendar. Though the majority of days are significant in remembrance of a particular event or set aside to celebrate an individual’s life achievements, pulling March 8th out of a hat and saying that “Today we’ll celebrate all women’s achievements” feels disingenuous.

I come from of a strong family. Each individual is ambitious, steadfast, charismatic, business savvy, patient…and I’m just referring to the women. I am the proud product of strong women and I see a lot of them in me. My mother’s creative brain and business acumen. My grandmother’s (both) strength, energy, drive and passion for life and family. My sister’s entrepreneurial spirit, athletic prowess and unwavering self confidence. My cousins, my girlfriend, my friends… I wish I could say that I am half the women they are.

This brings me to the core of this article.

I have the great privilege to work with all women here at Scream Agency. Each one of my colleagues is a master of their profession. They are on top of their game and they bring it every single day. There is no way that I could celebrate all they do for this company, our clients, or for me, especially in one 24 hour period. They provide direction, strength, guidance, support and inspiration, not to me, but to the work that we create together. I’m truly grateful for their contribution and they are vital to Scream Agency’s continued success.

I challenge you the reader to take a walk today and think of the women who have shaped you into the successful person that you are today. Have you thanked them? Do they feel important? I hope those women that have inspired me feel proud to read this and know that I am grateful for their ongoing guidance and inspiration.

Truly, thank you!

Saturday_Night_Live

Gather ’round, kids because I have a story for you about how Scream Agency quickly became the world’s luckiest agency in all of the land.

Back in August, Gem (Scream Agency’s Art Director) and myself – both big fans of the LOLs – entered the Saturday Night Live ticket lottery to try to win our chance to see an episode taped in Season 41. Seeing as how 30,000 people enter the lottery every season, and less than 5% are actually selected, we figured it was like throwing a needle in to a haystack.

But then, just about three weeks ago, we BOTH received the email from NBC letting us know that we’d won tickets. Not only that – but we won tickets to the SAME EPISODE, which happened to be this past Saturday’s season premiere with host and musical guest – Miley Cyrus. Those odds? I’ll have leave that to my hometown in Vegas but I will say that its pretty unfrigginbelievable. Winning lottery tickets to SNL > Winning the lottery.

Gem took his sister and I brought my cousin (the world’s biggest SNL fan, and actually whom I entered the lottery on behalf of), making it a true family affair.

We were required to arrive to the theatre no later than 10:15 p.m., where we were escorted up to a waiting room until about 11 p.m. when they brought us into Studio 8H – which is so much smaller than I had imagined. I wish I had photos to share with you here but the NO CELL PHONE PHOTOS policy is pretty clear and strict. But to give you an idea, they hand out about 34 sets of tickets per episode, and then fill in with standby’ers and those people who know people. So… it maybe holds 150 people?

About 20 minutes before showtime, Michael Che of Weekend Update came out to warm us up followed by a performance of  “Gimme Some Lovin'” by Kenan Thompson and a few female cast members. Sets then got shuffled around, lights went down and we heard a “90 seconds” until LIVE warning. At this point, you could’ve heard a pin drop, it was that silent and still in the studio leading up the cold opening of Season 41.

Our highlights:

Hillary’s Bar Talk. We were maybe 30 feet away from a woman who could end up being our first female president. She came off incredibly likable and Kate McKinnon’s “well you could’ve supported sooner” when speaking on gay marriage definitely got one of my giggle bursts of the night.  Plus, Darrell Hammond’s special appearance as Bill Clinton was a fantastic surprise.

Watching Lorne Michaels watching. The man reigns.

How seamless everything was. There is no question that SNL is a well-oiled machine, as its been operating for 41 seasons now. But witnessing how quickly the sets are setup, with cast assembled, and then broken down to move on to the next skit, was neat to see.

Pete Davidson’s Trumpdate Weekend Update. One word: Sanjaya.

The Squad. Because, GOALS. And aren’t we all feeling, like, her whole deal?

All in all, an incredible and truly surreal experience, that we were lucky enough to experience together.

Now, excuse me as I go listen to “Welcome to New York” for the thousandth time.

For those who have a love for craft beer, there is no better week in Denver than #GABF week. Tickets can be next to impossible to get without planning in advance or having an industry insider in your pocket. Luckily, Mellow Mushroom’s Downtown Denver location, conveniently located within a five-minute walk of the Colorado Convention Center, is hosting a week of events filled with barley, hops and stone-baked pizza.

To celebrate the team’s passion for brews, and in honor of the Great American Beer Festival, Mellow Mushroom will be featuring special tappings by Oskar Blues, C Squared Ciders, Stone Brewery, Pikes Peak Brewery and a very special feature with Ft. Collins Brewery’s Monster Malt all week…well, at least while supplies last.

Special events throughout the week will feature live music, tap takeovers featuring craft beers from across the country, and of course, mouthwatering Mellow pies. Full details are below, just come thirsty.

Colorado has joined the nationwide effort to promote biking as a reliable and go-to source of transportation. And whether you’re a novice or a thrill-seeker on a bike, you too can help be a part of the change. According to The League of American Bicyclists, there has been an increased interest in healthy and sustainable transportation options and from 2000 to 2013, the number of bicycle commuters in the U.S. grew by more than 62 percent. Out of the top 70 cities that were researched, Colorado was ranked 13th with bike commuter growth reaching 108%. Portland made the top of the list with 5.9% of the population comprised of  bike commuters with an overall bike commuter growth of 234%.

Why is this so important today, June 24th, 2015? Because studies have also shown that people who participate in Bike to Work Day are more likely to become regular commuters.

Denver in particular has done a tremendous job of transforming our lovable city into a bike-friendly commuting environment and continues to make improvements. We know this first-hand since our good friends (and clients) at BikeDenver are constantly planning the next bike share lane or coming up with unique ways to make bicyclists – of all ages – safe and informed.  For the past four years, Scream Agency has had one hundred percent participation for Bike to Work Day and we’re proud to continue the tradition of having helmet hair at the office today.

Gem, our art director, purchased his bike at Elevation Cycles. A big shout out to our neighborhood bike shop.
